Sally and John met in June of 2007. We gathered with friends at Alberta Street Public House, joining the group of regular Wednesday night pub goers to celebrate their friend Sarah Knuth's birthday. A mutual friend, Kelly Gibbons, introduced us and the rest is history! We spent the night chatting, joking, and enjoying each other's company and before long Sal taught John how to “call out the Dawgs”. After continuing to meet with friends the next few Wednesdays at the pub, we went on our first date a few weeks later. It wasn't long before we realized we had something special. Over the next few months, we continued to get to know and love each other over many meals, walks, adventures to Mt. Hood, cups of coffee, and bowls of soup at Br. Andre Cafe, a weekly meal provided to the neighbors and guests of The Downtown Chapel.
John proposed to Sally on a beautiful sunny morning in July of 2009, after taking a walk in Mt. Tabor park, where they shared some of their early dates. Sally was very thrilled and surprised, and after recovering her speech called their families to share the news. Little did she know that John had tipped her parents off, and her mom was waiting by the phone!
(This is a shortened version of our story.... we suggest asking one of us for our own unique versions sometime, including such details as handkerchiefs, picnic baskets, hydrangeas, and bringing books on dates....)
We feel very blessed to have found each other and couldn't be more excited about starting our new life together as husband and wife!
